Many people believe that cleansing is important for health, something to increase energy, clean out the digestive system, and help the body run better.
After doing some reading and learning about cleansing, I decided that I needed some recalibrating. Since my pregnancy, I had started to have more cravings for sugar and greasy foods. So, I did my very first juice cleanse. It was a pretty cool experience for me. I ordered the Blue Print Cleanse and patiently waited for my juice to arrive. I need to admit here that I only ordered a 2 day cleanse, I know that most cleansers tend to go much longer, but I am a first-timer here! In the week leading up, I tried to prepare myself by eating clean and light foods, extra green smoothies and salads (obviously animal-free).
When the box arrived, I was ready, but when I first tasted their “green drink”, I thought “oh no” it is not good, it was hard for me to get the whole thing down, to say the least. Fortunately, the next drink, their pineapple, apple, mint juice was one of the most delicious juices I have ever had. Surprisingly, the more green juice I drank, the more I liked it and I had no troubles with it on day 2, honestly, I miss it now.
I was surprised to find that I wasn’t hungry, I sometimes felt like eating, but I didn’t have a hard time keeping to my cleanse and I really enjoyed it. My cravings for sugar and junk went way down and I definitely got an increase of energy. I also decided that I love raw, fresh-pressed juice. It inspired me to get out my juicer and start experimenting. I am a serious advocate for green smoothies, but I can see how juicing can be beneficial sometimes, too, giving the body an immediate dose of vitamins, minerals, and energy. I am thinking of making my own “green juice” and putting it in my water bottle when I go out running.
Have any of you ever done a juice cleanse? I would love to hear about it! And I would love to know any of your juice recipes!
