welcome to the desert

cute graphic is from here

We are moving to Arizona! I can hardly believe it. Everything has happened so fast. Last week I felt totally adrift. We had taken a leap of faith and sold our house without any idea of what would happen next. In an incredible fashion, things have fallen right into place for us. I don’t hardly know a thing about Arizona. I have been there a few times and know a few people from there, but it is going to be an adventure for me. We will be in Queen Creek (outside of Phoenix). What do you know about that area or the surrounding area? Please share! Any restaurants, shops, entertainment…? p.s. you don’t need to remind me that it is crazy hot and bone dry… I am aware ;)

I hope you will forgive me for neglecting my cooking. To be honest, I have been eating embarrassingly poorly. It has been more than difficult to eat the way I would like with all the travel and packing and stress.

But, I did find a very yummy looking recipe for Quinoa Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Dressing from 2 Peas in their Pod  that is on my short list of things to try.

Oh my GOSH! We are totally moving there too next month! And Queen Creek is one of the places we have been considering. We drove out there a couple of weeks ago. Really nice area!  We actually like Gilbert too…Things have been crazy for us too…just moved out of our house today actually… I have NEVER experienced heat like that before (it was 113 while we were there, lol) but I hear that you kind of adjust to it.  We’ll have to get together for sure! Good luck with your move. You’ll have to let me know where you end up. :) angiejohns3@yahoo.com

I have lived in AZ all my life and love it minus the heat during the summer, you just stay inside or jump in the pool. :) If you are a Kneaders fan, since you are from Utah – they are building 2 Kneaders down here in Gilbert and Chandler which is pretty close to Queen Creek. I hope you will be able to grow to love AZ like I do, I know it is a huge change and may not be as pretty as Utah but the people are just as great. :)

Thanks. I am looking forward to the new adventure. It sounds great… and you’re rights, I do love kneaders!

You are moving there, too! Very cool.  I haven’t even been down to scope out areas. I have heard great things about Gilbert, too.  We are going to try out Queen Creek, but we are going to rent so we can get a pulse on the area if we want to move.
I am not sure what to do about the heat, yet. Ha! I hope all our stuff doesn’t melt in the truck before we even get moved in. Best of Luck with your move. Yes. Please give me a shout when you are settled. mary (at)mygreendiet.com

I just came across your website through pinterest. I am fasinated with eating clean but can’t seem to commit. I have enjoyed reading through your website. And then I read you are coming to Az. I am in Gilbert. Originally from Ca. , lived in UT for a bit but Az is where we will stay! Good luck getting settled!

There are no health food stores in QC.  It’s horrible.  But the area itself is nice.  Fry’s has a pretty good health food section though.  That’s where I go.  They are building a temple in Gilbert right now, very exciting.

Hi! I am so glad you found me. It sounds like we have been in very similar places recently. CA, UT, AZ… We just found a place in Seville (South Gilbert). It’s been 2 days, but so far so good! xoxo

Thanks for the heads up! I’ll try Fry’s… xo
