oven baked french fries

February 8, 2012

I adore french fries, but I hate the fat and grease (and who knows what else) that often accompany them. For me, these fresh homemade fries are all I need. You don’t have to follow this recipe exactly, use as many potatoes as you want and season accordingly.
oven baked french fries
  • 3 russet potatoes
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Wash the potatoes and cut into thin sticks – very important. Try to get them about 1/4 inch square sticks. Rinse the fries and dry well with a clean kitchen towel. In a large bowl, toss with oil and salt. On a parchment lined (optional) baking sheet, lay out the fries in a single layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley and serve hot!

Oven baked french fries are my kids absolute favorite!!!!  One recipe in particular, which you’ll have to try if you haven’t already, is just like this one with the addition of several other spices.  The flavor is AMAZING!!!  Toss the fries with the olive oil and sprinkle with equal amounts of salt, chili powder, cumin, paprika, and oregano.  Add slightly less  thyme, and even less cayenne pepper.  Try it, it’s the best!!
